Management by Objectives

Many managers are now using a technique called management by objectives to control their organizations. Specific objectives are set—by managers and their subordinates—for each unit, subunit, and individual in the organization, using specific criteria. The hard part is to set objectives so that results can be measured—and focus on what and when, not why and how.
