Social marketing is the planning and implementing of programs designed to bring about social change using concepts from commercial marketing. Same principles that are being used to sell products and services to consumers can be used to sell ideas, attitudes, behaviors and causes. It seeks to influence social behaviors not to benefit the marketer, but to benefit the target audience and general society. It is a non-commercial effort that targets the consumer.
